Evaluations & Screenings

Given the shortage of speech language pathologists, especially in rural areas, Northern Vermont Speech Therapy, PLC seeks to close that gap and provide underserved areas with strong clinical evaluation services. Evaluations are completed by certified speech language pathologists that hold:

• A master’s degree with an ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)

• Independent professional liability insurance

• A Vermont Educator License with a Speech Language Pathologist endorsement

 

Northern Vermont Speech Therapy has been offering these services to schools since 2014 to meet a variety of needs including staff shortages, short-term coverage needs, and to schools using teletherapy as the service delivery model. Evaluations are followed up in a timely manner with thorough reports that include:

• Eligibility determination for speech/language services under the State of VT Special Education Rules

• Suggested accommodations given the unique challenges of the student in the classroom

• Recommended therapy targets based on the student's profile of strengths, needs, and challenges
